The founder of You Family Foundation. Mrs. You is a Korean violinst, who is a compelling and versatile soloist, chamber and orchestral musician known for her rich sound and artistic integrity. Mrs. You was born in Korea, and she moved to the United States at age of 15. After immigrating to the United States, she continued to study violin with Lyndon Taylor and has excelled in her musical studies thereon.

Mrs. You was awarded a Mayor Award in 2004 as a violinist at Gwang Myeong city, South Korea at the age of 14. After she moved to the United States, she was awarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the United States Congress in 2008 as a young violinist. Mrs. You won 1st place at VOCE chamber music competition at the age of 17. She had a solo debut concert with Korean American Youth Symphony in 2010 at Zipper Concert Hall in Colburn School located in Downtown, Los Angeles.

Yi Chan, ‘Richard,’ You is an iconic musician from Seoul, South Korea whose contributions with the electric bass set the landscape of music. Richard earned his Bachelor’s degree of music in popular music at USC. As a solo bassist, Richard’s bright tone and fluent techniques contributed to USC popular music from the 60s to modern pop music. His playing was featured on all three years of “Popular Music Showcases” and numerous performances in Carson soundstage at USC, Bacara Ballroom in Ritz-Carlton hotel, and El Rey Theater in Los Angeles with a variety of musical performances. Richard has played and learned from Alphonso Johnson, Patrice Rushen, Paul Milton Jackson Jr., Andy Abad, and more exceptional artists who contributed to great popular music history.

Richard has grown up with musician parents who are jazz pianist father and classical music composer mother. Richard started playing piano at age of seven, bass guitar at ten, acoustic guitar at twelve, electric guitar at fourteen, drum sets at sixteen, and music production at age of seventeen. Richard has taught acoustic, and electric instruments to high school students to establish rock bands since the age of seventeen, up until his age of twenty five. He also developed his teaching skills in the area of music theory. The experience of versatile skills of each instrument, Richard has set his skills to teach students to develop their skills to become proficient.

Raised in Orange County, California and Jakarta, Indonesia, Emily is an adept project manager, writer, and administrator. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Scripps College, where she studied cognitive science and linguistics.

Despite struggling with her identity as a third-culture-kid during her first year of college, Emily started working at the international student office on campus, where she learned about the challenges and experiences of visa-holding students. Her heart for the international student community grew, which spurred her to join and later lead the international student orientation and mentorship program on campus. There, Emily organized community events, counseled first-year students, and advocated for institutional support to meet international students’ needs.
